#Day 6 at the Corona-conditioned home office: My commute is cancelled. Sounds good for now, but it also has a downside. Because it means I lack a lot of exercise. After I went directly to my notebook in the morning for the first few days, I realized relatively quickly that this can’t end well. So today, on day six of the home office phase, I simply went running again for a long time. And that without having to set the alarm clock to a murderously early time, so that the morning routine, including commuting to the office, still works. Wonderful – I think that was the right decision. Will there be a repeat? Let’s see, I will definitely report.
What is missing are the jokes with colleagues
Apart from that, my working day does not differ too much from what I usually experience on site. My routines are the daily reports and a first overview for monitoring. Afterwards, our team is almost immediately ready for a stand-up meeting, only now via Skype and, if you like, with video – I personally find this a funny thing, also to create a little office atmosphere. Sure, what I miss are the little jokes with colleagues we usually have in our open-plan office. Or the way to the coffee kitchen, or to the copier. As so often, you miss what you can’t have at the moment.
Telephoning becomes more important again
I am curious to see how the permanent home office will affect my own communication behaviour. Telephoning / Skyping will become (again) more important for me, e-mail will fall a little behind. Why? I cannot say yet. But I will keep you up to date with pleasure.
